An Election Day report from a MassINC relative in North Reading shows that ballot questions can lead to an early education:

My 8-year-old daughter and I went to vote at 7:00 this morning.  She’s not a morning person, but she got up extra early so that she could come with me.  And we had a nice conversation on the way home about criminal vs. civil penalties for marijuana. I think we have talked in more depth about Question 2 than about drugs in general. To be fair, they do have drug awareness at school, so it is something she knows about. But anything political gets her pretty fired up.

We’ve also talked about Prop 8 [which would ban gay marriage in California]. But I’m still waiting on Roe v Wade.
