The state’s top judges want to keep probation within the judiciary, but they want more oversight over how probation works. The Legislature, which has given probation unique autonomy, hasn’t weighed in yet. has written extensively about probation lately, including stories on the tug of war, patronage hiring, and a legislative hearing on the governor’s bill.
